In 2012, after spending a few months writing songs in a small hardware store in Northern Illinois, La Historia began playing shows and recording songs. The Awake Enough EP contains the first five songs the band wrote together. Over the next couple of years, La Historia wrote and recorded the songs on Low Mimetic, the debut full length record.
